At Fathom, we believe that your reading is a private, personal ritual. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what we deliberately choose not to collect.
1. The Data We Don't Collect
We do not want your reading data. Your books, your reading progress, your highlights, your vocabulary lists, and your celestial sky doodles are saved only on your device and in your personal iCloud.
We do not store a copy of your library on our servers. We cannot see what you read, how fast you read, or what passages you highlight.
2. The Data We Do Collect
When you use Fathom or interact with our website, we only collect what is strictly necessary to run the app and communicate with you:
- Waitlist and Support: If you join our waitlist or email us for support, we collect your email address and any other information you choose to provide. We use this solely to communicate with you.
- Basic Analytics: We use Apple's built-in, privacy-preserving developer tools (like Xcode Organizer and MetricKit) to monitor app crashes and performance issues. This data is anonymized and aggregated by Apple. We do not use third-party analytics trackers (like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or Facebook SDK) inside the iOS app.
3. Data Storage and Syncing
Fathom relies on Apple's iCloud to sync your data across your devices. This means your data is protected by Apple's security and privacy standards. Fathom does not run its own syncing servers for your personal reading data.
4. Third-Party Services
While the core app experience is private and on-device, we use a few trusted services to run our website and business:
- Waitlist Management: We use Supabase and Resend to securely store waitlist emails and send out early access invites.
We will never sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Children's Privacy
Fathom does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.
6. Changes to this Policy
As Fathom grows, we may update this Privacy Policy. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or via email (if you are on our mailing list).
